This was Koontz's first number one hardcover bestseller. There was no limited edition of Midnight. The other titles that he considered for this novel include "Midnight Music" and "Shadow Run". The initial printing was 200,000 copies, so first editions are relatively easy to locate and the price should be well within the casual collector's price range.

You have a first edition if there is a $19.95 price on the upper inside front of the dustjacket, an "8901" date code on the lower inside front of the dustjacket, and the number series "1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10" appears beneath "Printed in the United States of America" on the copyright page.
