The numbered edition of this book is one of the most difficult to locate. It has been reported that there was a binding error which caused the publisher to destroy many of the copies. I have been unable to determine the actual quantity of numbered copies that were made available, but I have been told that it was significantly less than the 500 mentioned. "Dark Rivers" is a work of art. An oversized and oddly proportioned book, it is bound in blue texture pressed Japanese cloth with round illustrated inlays on the front and back boards and is housed in a matching slipcase. There is artwork by Stephen Gervais throughout the book. The lettered edition is bound in blue Morocco leather with a light blue Morocco leather onlay on the front board and is virtually impossible to find. The price is unbelievable and is beyond all but the most obsessive collectors. The 650,000 copy trade first edition is plentiful and should be easily found for less than the $24.00 cover price.

You have a first trade edition if the copyright page states "First Trade Edition" and if there is a $24.00 price on the upper inside front of the dustjacket and the date code "11/94" on the lower inside rear of the dustjacket.
