The limited edition of this book ranks as one of the more impressive. It was released with a beautiful Don Brautigan dustjacket and slipcase, with inner illustrations by Phil Parks. Despite its scarcity and beauty, it has not grown in value, a problem that seems to plague all of Dean's Putnam limited editions. I'm aware of no good reason for this. The trade first edition is plentiful, easy to locate, and inexpensive.

You have a trade first edition if there is an ascending series of numbers ( 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 ) on the copyright page, and if there is a $22.95 price on the top front inside of the dustjacket, and the date code "9101" on the bottom front inside of the dustjacket. Because Putnam elected to include the ISBN for the trade and the limited on the copyright page there has always been confusion about whether you own the limited edition. Be careful when making a purchase. I hope this page will be useful in getting the one you want.
